Climate resilience and adaptation
We recently hosted an industry webinar to share our climate resilience journey - from our climate scenario mapping and how we identified vulnerable assets, through to the risk mitigation strategies we're putting in place.
The team was keen to share our warts-and-all learnings with the energy industry, as well as with other infrastructure operators as they navigate their own resilience and adaptation journeys.
We had attendees from other electricity distribution businesses, industry bodies such as GasNZ, local councils, Te Waihanga, the Commerce Commission and the Climate Commission, and had good engagement at the end of the session through the Q&A chat.
General Manager Gas Don Elers led the webinar, with contributions from the team including:
- Sustainability Project Engineer Elizabeth Shires who spoke about the road to our first climate-related disclosure report and Climate Adaptation and Resilience Plan
- Future Networks Engineering Manager Kewen Kueh who talked about the data sets we leveraged to understand which assets are vulnerable
- Asset Strategy Manager Gas Anna Middlemass who talked about how the rubber is now hitting the road, specifically in our Gas AMP Update 2024.
