Riversdale Beach Surf Life Saving Club

We help our Wairarapa customers stay safe in the water over summer by sponsoring the Riversdale Beach Surf Life Saving Club.

While the Wairarapa beach is beautiful, its fast-forming rips and shifting conditions can be dangerous. Each year, the club’s lifeguards carry out more rescues than all other Wellington clubs combined.

Over the last six years, we’ve supported the club’s lifeguards to do first aid training. Most recently, we funded 39 lifeguards to complete training in January 2022. With their community being 45 minutes away from the nearest hospital in Masterton, the lifeguards’ first aid skills are often called upon out of the water too, including for broken bones, heart attacks and falls.
